Typhoid Remedies, Natural Cure, Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment for Typhoid

Typhoid has virtually been eradicated from industrialized Western countries. However unfortunately the deadly disease still rages virtually unabated in such areas as South Asia, Africa, South America and parts of the old Soviet Union, where the worldwide immunization programme has either yet to reach or is not working adequately.

It is a bacterial disease and is spread by contact to dirty water, contaminated food or with a person already carrying the disease.

Signs of Typhoid Infection

You will develop a high temperature, sore throat and fever, and either be constipated or suffer diarrhea. Interestingly in adults suffering from typhoid it is usually constipation whilst a childhood bout of typhoid usually causes diarrhea.

In the second week of the fever a rash will develop and in the third you will become listless and exhausted and very often the patient will be delirious. This is the crucial point of recovery, as if not adequately treated during this period other life-threatening disease may develop as the immune system is virtually ruined.

However if treatment is successful at this point you will begin to recover and in all likelihood survive without too many side effects or permanent damage to the system.

Ayurvedic Diet for Typhoid Prevention and Recovery

The Ayurvedic teachings very often encourage the frequent ingestion of raw fruit and vegetables. However in the case of typhoid prevention this isn’t necessarily so. If you reside in or are visiting an effected region of the world you should be very careful when eating raw vegetables and fruit as they may have bee washed in contaminated water or been handled by a typhoid carrier. Without the effects of boiling water or the foodstuff being cooked in some other way the bacteria survive and will very likely infect the immune system when digested.

If you have already contracted typhoid and are beginning your recovery programme then you should ensure that you drink as much pure liquids as you can as this prevents dehydration as the fever takes hold.

Water would be the best option, but again if you are in an affected region then in all likeliness the water will be contaminated, so be careful. In this instance it would be advisable to boil all drinking water to be on the safe side.

You should also follow a high-carbohydrate diet as this will replace all the nutrients you will have lost during the high fever stage of the infection.

It is also best to eat food that is as hot as the room temperature. As heat is a very good way to eradicate the negative bacteria.

Ayurvedic remedies for diarrhea

Diarrhea is one of the by-products of typhoid, in accordance with the Ayurvedic methods it can be treated in the following ways:

  • Ingesting coriander seeds in boiling water
  • Pomegranate juice
  • A paste made from goats’ milk and sesame seeds
  • A salt and sugar solution mixed with warm water drink

The skin of pomegranates are rich in the fibres, nutrients and minerals vital to alleviate diarrhea and if prepared in the right manner can be eaten raw, added to boiling water and drank or added to other cooking or fruit salad.
